~ We bonded over the fact that our kids stunk ~

It was 2 years ago when my son, Rocky, was drafted by the Twin Bridges Lighting to play on their mini-mite hockey team.  Which is just a fancy way of saying he had been in the "practice league" long enough and it was time for him to move up with the big boys and play real games on a real team.  He would be playing with kids 2 whole years older than him.  His coaches thought he was ready...I did not.  I was a nervous wreck.

We showed up at our first practice and I felt terrible.  These kids were a head taller than Rocky doing backward cross-overs and power-drills and my kid was making snow angels in the corner.

Okay, not literally snow angels.  But let's just say he had a lot of catching up to do before he blended in with his team-mates.

But just then across the ice I saw a little boy, even smaller than Rocky, looking a little Bambi-ish' as well and I instantly scouted out his mother to seek solace and see if she was as scared as I was.  We both bonded and laughed over our little wobble-legged babies out there with the big boys.

We've spent the past 2 years cheering each others boys on and watching them go from jello-legged toddlers to rough and tough goal scoring, penalty getting (ahem...Aiden) hockey players.

Meet one of Rockys very best buddies, Aiden.
